Dispusip Again Holds Third Quarterly Literacy Short Family Initiative

The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) once again holds the Third Quarterly Literacy Concise Family Initiative (IKRA) from July to September 2022.

This is expected to make participants not only understand the contents of the reading material but also get innovative ideas to work

It aims to cultivate a reading culture in the family environment in order to form a literate individual personality.

Jakarta Dispusip Head Wahyu Haryadi said there are challenges that must be faced to cultivate a reading culture in the family environment, especially with the presence of electronic media today, such as television, games, gadgets, and others.

"This situation often hinders children's interest in reading at home. Many parents are more concerned with electronic devices than a book. As a matter of fact, books and other print media have an important role in the learning process to achieve life's success," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (8/24).

This time, his party collaborated with various elements of society, such as elements of the sub-district, urban village, and PKK for thousands of reading materials to be borrowed and used by families in Jakarta.

Borrowing books could be done for a period of 14 days or more, with a variety of reading sources, such as story books or fairy tales for children, as well as knowledge and skills books for parents.

As for IKRA location would be held in five regions of Jakarta, including in Seribu Islands.

He went on to say that the activity could be used by the participants to participate in reading and summarizing reading materials with their families.

They could publish the results of reading and summarizing on each participant's social media accounts in the form of photos and videos.

As a form of appreciation, the agency gave e-certificates to all IKRA participants. While the five best participants would get a goodie bag.

"This is expected to make participants not only understand the contents of the reading material but also get innovative ideas to work that are beneficial both for themselves and for the community," he concluded.
